Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

Quarry lake

Seraya, Meranti, Keruing, Merawan, Nemusu are familiar trees in BTNR. Only 75 hectares, this luxuriant primary forest is most unusual as it is located just next to a shopping centre! From the summit at 163m one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the central catchment area. Dissected by the Bukit Timah Expressway, its forests now lie in precarious isolation. The BTNR is extremely popular with visitors and this makes it even more vulnearable to impact destruction. Scarred by quarrying works, its fringe (buffer zone) is further encroached by residential development and bike trails.
